SFR Press Release
Partnership to build first AI built and driven Data Center in South Korea
Seoul, South Korea — November 11, 2025 — SFR (Stock Farm Road), a leading global investment group has partnered with Voltai a cutting edge AI tech developer to unveil plans for a pioneering, large-scale data center in South Korea, potentially the world’s first fully AI-designed, built, and operated facility. This groundbreaking project is set to revolutionize data center management and significantly boost South Korea’s technological infrastructure.
The proposed data center, located in South Jeolla Province, aims to be a technological marvel, with a projected investment of up to $35 billion and an energy capacity of 4 gigawatts — a scale rarely seen worldwide. If realized, the facility will set new standards in data center innovation, utilizing cutting-edge artificial intelligence to oversee every aspect of its operation.
Innovative AI Integration Under “Project Concord”
The project, dubbed “Project Concord,” is a strategic partnership between SFR and Voltai, a Palo Alto-based AI firm founded by Labib Tazwar Rahman and Priyanka Mathikshara and backed by Stanford University as well as prominent industry figures including Google’s former Chairman, John Hennessy. Voltai’s AI will serve as the architect, manager, and operator of the data center, managing everything from design and construction to real-time operational decisions.
AI will handle resource management, such as power and water efficiency, while adapting swiftly to varying AI workloads. Human oversight will remain, but AI will act as the primary decision-maker, ushering in a new era of autonomous data center management.
Supporting South Korea’s Digital Expansion
This visionary project aligns with the South Korean government’s ongoing efforts to expand the nation’s computing infrastructure. Last week, President Lee Jae Myung announced that AI-related technology investments would triple in the upcoming year, underscoring the country’s commitment to becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence.
Strategic Significance and Future Outlook
The South Korea project underscores a global trend toward leveraging AI for large-scale infrastructure. Notably, the facility’s power capacity exceeds the typical 1-gigawatt limit, marking a significant milestone in data center development worldwide.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the project exemplifies a bold step toward a future where artificial intelligence seamlessly manages critical digital infrastructure, supporting the next generation of technological innovation.
